Took me a while to find him. The Board is practically unrecognizable now, so finding the damn place was hard. Seriously, how do a bunch od fucking Blood Vessels do this much damage to a place?
Anyway, I found him waiting, in the exact same place he and I had our first children's card game.
"'Bout fuckin' time you made it," he said. "You ready?"
"Of course I am," I told him.
"Exellent!" he said, as a portal opened right next to him. "Follow me!"
"You mean we aren't dueling here?" I asked.
"No," he said. "This is just the meeting ground. Out real duel will take place on the sixth layer."
"Come again?" I asked.
"Hehe, you said 'come'," he chuckled.
"Oh for the love of...," I muttered. "What the hell is the sixth layer and why are we going there?"
"I'll explain on the way," he said, stepping through the portal.
I guess I had no choice but to follow him. It was a wird trip. We passed through worlds I can't eve begin to describe. And Gordon kept talking te whole way.
"You see," he explained to me. "The place we first dueled is a LAyer Break, and area where the boundery between layers is weak, allowing transit between them. There's multiply layers of reality. Our world and the domains of the Fear exist on the first layer. Mana exists on the second. The Old Ones exist even further down."
"I reasearched the Cthulhu Mythos some after our last duel," I informed him. "Crazy stuff."
"Yes, indeed," he said. "R'Lyeh is a mere fragment of the layer they call home. However, we will not be seeing them today. Layer number six is our destination."
"So, quick question," I said. "Why duel at all? I could just kill you now and be done with it."
"No you couldn't," he said.
"And why not?" I asked.
"Because Jack's a douchebag," he said. "When I was revived, Jack did something to me. He made it so that I can't be killed, except in a duel."
"But I beat you before, and you'e still here," I pointed out.
"You see, that's where it gets tricky," he said. "I can lose a duel and still live, but if my life points hit zero do to an attack or effect of a Fear card, it's over for me."
"So, in our last duel, when you used Spellbinding Circle...," I said.
"Protecting myself from your Fear card," he said. "If you had attacked me with it, I would have died."
"I see," I said. "Interesting weakness."
"We're here," he said.
We had stopped on a transparent platform overlooking a magnificent garden. At least, it started out as a garden, but then it decided to turn into a swamp, then a desert, then a jungle, then a garden, then a jungle again... etc.
"Weird," I said.
"Yeah, the landscape on this particular part of the sixth layer can never seem to make up its mind," Gordon said.
"So what's so great about this place that we have to duel here?" I asked.
"You see, in this place, the conditions are just right," he said.
"For what?" I asked.
"A game of truth," he said.
"Say what?" I asked.
"The rules are simple," he explained. "Each time one of us loses life points, a vision will be revealed to us. These visions will build up to a great truth. A revelation, if you will."
"Why?" I asked.
"There are questions I want answered, and a game of truth will help me find those answers," he said.
"And what if I kill you in this duel?" I asked. "Those answers won't do you much good if you're dead."
"I'm a Star Spawn," he said. "I'm telepathically linked to my Shoggoths, Veis, Vocallass, and Etra."
"Who's Etra?" I asked. "I don't think I've met that one yet."
"Elf chick," he said. "Anyway, all truths I learn will be transmitted to them. If I die, the knowledge I obtain will still be of help to them. They have their orders of what to do after I'm gone. I took quite a few precautions, in case I don't make it back."
"I see," I said.
"You have questions of your own," he said. "I can see it."
He was right. My wings, the gauntlet. How I was able to beat the dragon. Who the Ace Of Chaos really is. And most importantly, why all this card game shit always happens to be. I had questions, and a game of truth might help me get some god damn answers.
"You're on," I said. "You lost last time, so you pick who goes first."
"I'll start," he said. "I summon Axe Dragonute in attack mode!"
A familiar ax weilding dragon appeared, with 2000 attack points.
"That guy?" I asked.
"I figured that I'd use my old deck for this," he said. "Same deck as our first duel."
"I see," I said.
"Not exactly the same though," he said. "I've added a few new tricks, such as this guy. I summon Kagetokage!"
A lizard-like shadow appeared on the ground. It was a level 4 dark monster.
"I can special summon this guy when I bring out a level 4 monster," he said. "Now, I activate the spell card Ultimate Overlay! Now, if I perform an xyz summon with these two monsters, the newly summoned monster will gain attack power equal to its rank times 200, and then I can attach this card to it as an overlay unit!"
"Uh oh," I said out loud. He was already planning an xyz summon.
"I build the overlay network with these two level 4 monsters!" he said. "With them, I xyz summon Fiery Archer OF The Brute!"
A man in black and crimson clothing appeared, carrying a flaming longbow. He was a fire attribute with 2000 attack and 450 defense. Ultimate Overlay powered it up to 2800, and then became a new overlay unit for it.
"My monster has three overlay units," Gordon said. "And once per turn, I can use one of them to dish out 200 damage for each card in your hand!"
Shit. I had five cards, so that was 1000 damage. His monster fired a flaming arrow straight at me. My life dropped to 7000, ad for a moment, everything around me faded. I could see an airport. On the inside. Two people were sitting in chairs, waiting for someone to arrive. I recognized them at once. My mom and dad. But they were young. It must have been before I was born.
"Aren't you excited?" my mom asked. "You're finally going to meet my relatives!"
"One of your relatives," my dad said. "So what does this brothr of yours do again?"
"He's a supervisor of the UK branch of Coins Inc.," she said.
"Hey, sis!" called a voice from a distance away. "This the great husband of the year you were telling me about?"
This man looked oddly familiar, and spoke with a strong British accent.
"David!" my mom called, running over and hugging the an tightly. "Yes, this his him. Carl, come over here and say hi!"
The vision faded away. I was back a the duel.
"I end my turn," Gordon said. "You're up to bat, kid."
"I draw!" I said. "I'll start with the spell card Hallowed Birth! This card can be special summoned in defense mode as a SlenderProxy Hallowed!"
My spell card took the form of a masked man with an operator symbol on his jacket. He was level 3 with 0 atk and 1000 defense.
"Next, I normal summon Slender The Third in attack mode!" I said.
A figure resembling the Slender Man appeared. It was level 4 with 500 attack points.
"Next, I set two cards and end my turn," I said.
"My move," Gordon said. "I summon Flamvell Grunika in attack mode!"
His monster was a level 4 fire dragon with 1700 attack points.
"I'll save Archer's effect for later," Gordon said. "I can't attack with him if I use it, so I'll just save his overlay units for now. Instead, I'll attack the Third with Flamvell Grunika!"
"I'm afraid not," I said. "The Third can't be attacked while I have another Slender or SlenderProxy card out."
"Then I'll attack Hallowed Birth!" he declared.
His dragon destroyed my Hallowed.
"Now, Grunika's effect deals you damage equal to your monster's level times 200!" he said.
His dragon attacked me again, dealing me 600 damage. I slipped into another vision. I saw my father and my mom's brother... my uncle, I guess... talking.
"So, how long have you been with the bank?" my dad asked.
"Oh, Coins Inc. isn't a bank," my uncle said. "It's actually a health inspection agency. Been with them since I was a teenager."
"So why's it called Coins?" my dad asked. My uncle simply shrugged.
"No idea," he said.
"Well, I'm gonna go get a drink," my dad said. "Care to join me?"
"I'd love to," my uncle said.
Vision ended again. Back to dueling.
"Now that your Hallowed is out of the way, I can attack with my Archer," Gordon said.
"It's not out of the way yet," I said. "I activate the trap card Hallowed Replacement! When a SlenderProxy Hallawed is destroyed, this trap card can be special summoned in defense mode as a Hallowed!"
My trap became a SlenderProxy Hallowed, level 3 with 1000 attack and defense.
"Then I'll just have my Archer attack that instead!" Gordon said.
The attack hit, but my monster survived.
"Sorry," I said. "But Hallowed Replacement can't be destroyed in battle this turn."
"I end my turn," Gordon said.
"I draw!" I said. "Next, I switch my Hallowed to attack position and equip him with my face down Magnum Shield! Since he's a warrior type, he now gains attack power equal to his defense!"
My Hallowed had it's power increased to 2000.
"Next, I normal summon Slender The Second!" I said.
Another Slender Man look alike appeared. It was level 4 with 1500 attack points.
"The Second gains 500 attack for every other Slender Or SlenderProxy card I control," I explained. "But that's not the best part. By tributing the Second and the Third, I can call forth Slender Man from my deck!"
There was a surge of power as Slender Man appeared before me.
"And that's not all!" I said. "Slender Man will now gain the powers of the Second and Third! Meaning he gains 500 attack for each Slender or SlenderProxy card I control aside from itself, and he can't be attacked while I have out another Slender Or SlenderProxy monster!"
Slender Man rose to 3000 attack points.
"Next, I attack Flamvell Grunika with my Hallowed," I said. His monster was destroyed, and his life dropped to 7700. He seemed to enter a trance for a couple moments. He was having a vision of his own. Then he snapped out of it.
"Next, I attack your Archer with Slender Man!" I said.
He receieved 200 damage, then went into another short trance. His monster was unharmed.
"Why wasn't your monster destroyed?" I demanded.
"Archer's bonus ability," he said. "If he would be destroyed in battle, I can instead detach all of his overlay units. Then, you take 500 damage for each overlay unit removed.
"Shit!" I exclaimed.
The archer absorbed both of its overlay units into an arrow, then fired it at me. My life dropped to 5400. I slipped into a vision again. I saw my dad, as the Phantasm, in his third form. He was weilding his gatling guns, fighting a groupof robed figured. However, their numbers seemed to be working in their favor, because he was losing. They grappled him with chains, trying to bind him.
"Give up!" one of them barked.
"I don't think so," he said.
Suddenly, he changed. He was a teenagr, with long black hair. He wore all back, street clothing, and his guns turned into solid gold revolvers. I had only seen him use 3 forms. I had no idea he could go further than that. I also didn't realize he had a bishonen line...
Several multiples of him suddenly appeared, gunning down all the cloaked people. I guess he can clone himself in his fourth form.
Vision ended.
"Do to Archer's effect, you get to draw one card for each overlay unit that was just removed," Gordon said.
I drew 2 cards.
"I set one card face down and end my turn," I said.
"My turn," Gordon said, drawing. A broad grin spread over his face. "I'll start by summoning Alexandrite Dragon," he said.
His new monster was a light attribute with 2000 attack points.
"next, I'll use a little gift Jack gave me," he said, as his right hand started glowing with an eerie red light. "I activate Rank-Up Magic- All Force!"
"What does that do?" I demanded.
"This card lets me use an xyz monster to summon a Red Hand xyz monster that's a rank higher!" he said. "Now, I use Fiery Archer Of The Brute to xyz summon Red Hand- Black Knight Of The Brute!"
A new monster appeared. It was a rank 5 dark monster, clad in black armor, with 2800 attack power.
"Now, I'll have Alexandrite Dragon attack your Hallowed!" he said.
Both monsters had the same attack power, so they bother were destroyed. Slender Man's attack returned to normal.
"Now, I'll have my Black Knight attack Slender Man!" he said. "And by detaching an overlay unit, your monster will lose 1000 attack points, along with its effect!"
Slender Man was reduced to 1500, and was destroyed. I lost 1300 life points, bringing me down to 4100.
New vision. The aftermath of my dad's fight. He was back in his first form, with his hood up. The Scientist was with him.
"No Scions here," the Scientist said, dissapointed. "Just cultists. Would have been nice to imprison a piece of the Vision."
"Our orders are to destroy all fragments of her," my dad said. "Not use them for ourselves."
"I know," the scientist said. "I'm just saying, it would have made an interesting experiment."
"Our orders are to destroy allthat is left of the Vision," my dad said. "Both her Scions and her descendants, no matter who they might be."
End vision.
"I activate the effect of The Third from my graveyard!" I said. "When Slender Man is destroyed, I can bring back the Second and the Third. However, neither of them can be tributed again."
"I end my turn," Gordon said.
"My turn!" I said. "I summon SlenderProxy Guardian in attack mode!"
My level 4 monster appeared, ready to fight for me.
"Next, I play Mirror Of Slender!" I said. "By banishing Slender Man from my graveyard, I can now use a spell card from your graveyard! And I choose Ultimate Overlay!"
"Damn it!" Gordon said.
"Now, if I xyz summon this turn, this card will become an overlay unit for the xyz monster, and it'll gain 200 attack times its rank! Now, I build the overlay network with these 3 level 4 dark monsters in order to xyz summon Ren, The Thorned Prince!"
Ren appeared, with 4 overlay units. Due to Ultimate Overla's effect, his attack rose from 2800 to 3600.
"Now, I play the equip spell card Stoic Challenge!" I said. "Now, Ren will gain 600 attack for each of his overlay units, brining him up to 6000! Also, any famage he inflicts is doubled! Now, attack!"
"I activate the effect of The Black Knight!" Gordon said. "Any damage I take from a battle involving him is cut in half!"
He took 3200 damage, bringing him down to 4300. He entered another trance.
"I end my turn," I said.
"I draw," he said. "I set one monster in defense mode and end my turn."
"The effect of Stoic Challenge now activates," I said. "It will be destroyed, along with the equipped monster. Then, I play the trap card Overdraw. When an xyz monster I control is destroyed by a card effect, I can draw a card for each of its overlay units. So now I get 4 new cards."
"Fine," Gordon said.
"My turn," I said. "I summon SlenderProxy Mechanic."
My level 3 tuner appeared.
"Then, since I summoned a SlenderProxy, I can bring out SlenderProxy Thug," I said.
My level 4 thug joined my Mechanic on the field.
"Now, I tune lever 3 Mechanic to my level 4 Thug!" I said. "Now, I synchro summon my own Archer! Come forth, SlendArcher!"
A faceless man, in black Robin Hood-like clothing appeared, holding a greatbow with a quiver across his back. He had 2500 attack and 0 defense.
"SlendArcher's name is treated as Slender Man while he's face up on my field or in my graveyard," I said. "Now, I'll have him attack your face down card!"
"My face down card is Masked Dragon," Gordon said. "When this card is destroyed, I can summon a dragon from my deck with 1500 or less attack, so I'll bring out Magna Drago!"
A level 2 tuner appeared on his field, with 1400 attack points.
"I end my turn," I said.
"My move," Gordon said. "I summon Armageddon Knight, and with his effect, I send Red Eyes Black Draon from my deck to the graveyard. Then, I tune level 2 Magna Drago to my level 4 Armageddon Knight to synchro summon my level 6, Ultimate D. Human!"
A man with dragon-like features, carrying a sword carved from a dragon fang appeared. He had 2300 attack and 1100 defense.
"He may not be as strong as your Archer, but He'll suffice," he said. "Once per turn, Ultimate D. Human can send a dragon from my hand to the graveyard to gain half of its attack power. However, monsters he attacks won't be destroyed. So, I'll discard a second Red Eyes to power him up by 1200! Now, attack!"
His monster rose to 3500, and attacked, dealing me 1000 damage. I had another vision. My mom and dad, in a hospital. My mom was lyong in bed, holding a small bundle. Oh, look, it's a little baby me. How cute. I think I'm gonna barf...
"Have you thought of a name?" she asked my dad.
"I was considering David," my dad said.
"After my brother?" she asked.
"What?" he said. "It's a nice name."
"I suppose it is," she said.
My dad looked up. Standing in the doorway was a tall, tan man, waering tattered clothes. It didn't take me too long to realize who it was. The Game Master, in his human form. My mom didn't seem to notice him.
"I'm gonna go get us some sodas," my dad said. "To celebrate."
"Okay," she said. "Don't take too long."
The vision ended.
"I set a card and end my turn," Gordon said.
"I draw!" I said. "I use The Warrior Returning Alive to return SlenderProxy Thug from my graveyard to my hand. Then, I summon SlenderProxy Rocker and Thug!"
My two Proxies appeared on the field.
"Now, I tune level 4 Rocker to my level 4 Thug to synchro summon Slender Sorceror!" I said.
My Sorceror appeared on the field, with 1900 attack points.
"Now, I use his effect," I said. "I reveal the top 3 cards of my deck, and for each Slender or SlenderProxy card revealed, you take 500 damage. I've got SlenderProxy Sniper, Slender Dragon, and SlenderProxy Mistress, so you take 1500 damage!"
He was reduced to 2800 life points.
"Now, I use SlendArcher's effect!" I said. "His level will now become equal to Slender Sorceror's level, and you take damage equal to his level change times 500. Since his level changed by 1, you take 500 damage!"
He lost another 500, and slipped into a brief trance.
"Now, I build the overlay netword with these two level 8 monsters!" I said. "Now, I xyz summon Chaos Slender Man!"
"Oh no you don't!" Gordon said. "I activate Overlay Cancel! Now, I cancel your xyz summon, and banish the sumoned monster from play by tributing a monster I control and sending cards from my deck to the graveyard equal to your monster's rank!"
He sent 8 cards from his deck to the graveyard, and Chaos Slender Man was banished from the game. My field was now empty.
"I set two cards and end my turn," I said.
"My turn," Gordon said. "I banish fire attribute Magna Drago and Fiery Archer Of The Brute, along with dark attribute Axe Dragonute and Armageddon Knight to call forth Burning Shadow Dragon!"
"Oh fuck," I said.
He now controlled a 3000 attack point behemoth. I was royal fucked.
"I banish fire attribute Tyrant Dragon to have my monster gain 1000 attack points!" he said. "Now, end this!"
"I activate the effect of SlenderProxy Guardian from my graveyard!" I said. "By banishing this guy, and paying half my life points, your attack is negated!"
My life dropped to 1550, and another vision took me. I saw the Game Master and my father speaking in the hospital hallway.
"Your son would make a great Emmissary once he's older," the Game Master said.
"I'm not sure that's what I want for him," my dad said.
"Well, think it over," the Game Master said. "In the meantime, why not allow him to have a power. Whether he becomes an Emmissary or not, having a gift like that could help him a lot."
" guess," my dad said. "But just a small one. Nothing too fancy."
"A small power it is," the Game Master said. "I shall give him the gift of instinct. Natural talent which will pull him through the most trying of challaenges."
The vision ended, and the truth sank it. I had an Emmissary power. I had always thought I had never received one, but I had. My instincts. It was always my instincts that helped me win. Whether I was fighting servants, playing a children's cad game, or taming a goddamn dragon, I had always relied on my instincts.
Of course, it suddenly hit me that I had the dragon card. If I could bring it out i might stand a chance.
"I end my turn," Gordon said.
"My move!" I said, drawing. "I normal summon Slender Subbordinate!"
A mini Slender Man appeared. it was level 2, with 0 attack and defense.
"With this card, I can special summon a banished Slender card!" I said.
"I see," Gordon said. "Planning to bring back your Chaos Slender Man?"
"No," I said. "I was thinking more of the original! Come forth, Slender Man!"
My monster appeared before me.
"Time to teach you a lesson!" I said. "I tune level 2 Slender Subbordinate to my level 8 Slender Man to synchro summon my newest monster! Corrupted Star Dragon!"
The Dragon I had faced in the Streams Of Destiny appeared before me. It was level 10, with 3000 attack and defense.
"Since Slender Subbordinate and Slender Man were used in a synchro summon, they'll both be banished," I said. "Now, I'll use Corrupted Star Dragon's effect! By banishing two monster from my graveyard, I can either dish out or recover 1000 life points. I'll choose to banishthe Second and Third to regain my life points!"
My life increased to 2550.
"Now, I'll have Corrupted Star Dragon attack Burning Shadow Dragon!" I said. The two monsters destroyed each other.
"Great," Gordon said. "Now both our fields are empty."
"Not for long," I said, activating one of my face down cards. "Look Familiar?"
"Epic Rematch," he said. "Using the card I gave you, eh?"
"That's right!" I said. "Now, we both gain 500 life points, and ur monster return to the fireld, and must do battle again!"
Burning Shadow Dragon returned to hid field, and Corrupted Star Dragon to mine. Hislife became 3300 ad mine rose to 3050.
"Next, since Corrupted Star Dragon was revived from the graveyard, he gains 1000 attack until the end phase!" I said. "Now, attack!"
His Burning Shadow Dragon was destroyed, and he took 1000 damage.
Something suddenly came over him. His skin turned a sick, black color, with red markings all over him. A single, dragon like wing sprouted from his back, and a dragon like mask formed over his mouth. Spikes grew from the back of his head, and claws gre from his hands and feet. This wasn't his Star Spawn form. This was something different. It didn't seem as powerful as his Star Spawn form, and it looked painful for him.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
He began speaking some weird, twisted language, but for some reason, I could understand him.
"I'm fine," he said. "Let us continue."
"Alright," I said. "I end my turn, and my dragon's attack returns to normal."
"I draw!" he said, still in that weird language. "I activate Delta Draw! By banishing three monsters with the same name from my graveyard, I draw two cards! I banish my three Red Eyes Black Dragons, and draw two cards!"
He drew twice.
"Next, I banish Burning Shadow Dragonfrom my graveyard to call forth Chaotic War Dragon, Brute!" he said.
His ultimate Fear card rose from the darkness. It's black smoke was suffocating. It was massive, with 3500 attack points.
"During my battle phase, the Brute gains 500 attack for each of my banished monsters!" he said. "I have 9 banished monsters, so he gains 4500 attack! Now, end this!"
His Brute, now at 8000 attack points, readied its attack. I had to act fast. Thank god for my super instincts.
"I activate the trap card Back-Up Proxy!" I said. "When a monster I control is attacked, I can banish a SlenderProxy card from my hand to add it's power to my monster! I banish SlenderProxy Quan The Enhanced to add his 2900 attack to my Corrupted Star Dragon!"
My Dragon's attack rose to 5900. Not strong enough to survive, but strong enough to defend me.
"Back-Up Proxy also cuts the damage I take in half," I said. "So I only take 1050 from that attack."
I had another vision. This one was the longest yet. I saw my father, hunting down someone. He chased himfor a while, shouting "Run all you want, descendant! You can't escape me!"
My father cornered the man in an alleyway. He was wearing a hooded robe, so I couldn't see his face. A red spike grew from the palm of the man's hand, and he turned to face my father. They becan fighting. During the fight, the man's spike tore off my father's hood, and my father's arm knocked the man's hood down. They stood frozen, staring into each other's face.
"You!" My father said.
"How cruel fate has become," my uncle said. "That you and I should be on opponent's."
My dad tackled my uncle to the ground, pressing the barrel of his gun into my uncle's temple.
"You don't want to do this," he said weakly.
"You're right," my dad said. "But I have my orders."
"You don't have to do this!" my uncle said. "What about my son, Ben? You're nephew?"
My dad cocked the gun.
"Tell me something," he said. "My wife. Your sister. Is she... the same?"
"Yes," he said. "But please, she doesn't know what we are are, you don't did to get her involve-"
The vision ended with the sound of a gunshot.
"The Brute's power returns to normal," Gordon said, still in that language. "Now, I ativate Darkfire Blast, so by sending Dark attribute Dark Influence Dragon and fire attribute Master Of The Flaming Dragonswords to the graveyard to deal you 1000 points of damage!"
My life dropped to1000, and a new vision came to me. My father, outside my old house, with an almost empty bottle of whiskey in his hand. He stormed in. I remembered this night. I didn't remember what was said. Not until now.
"You're one of them," he said.
"Have you been drinking again?" she said, accusingly.
"Yes, I have!" he said. "After what I just found out about you, I needed a fucking drink!"
"What are you talking about?" she said. "I've never hidden anything from you."
"You're entire family has been hiding from me!" he said. "I should have realized it sooner! Coins! It's an anagram of Scion! You're family's been in league with thwem all along! Fucking Malkator's!"
"Watch your mouth!" she yelled. "David might hear you!"
"He's just like you!" he said. "A filthy descendant!"
"A what?" she asked.
"A descendant!" he said. "Of the filthy Vision!"
"The what?" she asked.
"The Fear of destiny!" he replied.
"You've had too much," she said, reaching to take the bottle from him.
"Don't touch me, you monster!" he snapped, slapping her with all his strength.
And then it happened. Like I remembered. My monster stumbled backwards, falling over onto the table, breaking her neck against the wooden elephant. My father stepped back, realizing what had just happened.
"Oh god...," he said. "What... what did I just do?"
He looked sick. He ran to the bathroom, and... well, you know what happens next. I woke up from the vision. It was all clear to me now. My mom had a brother. David Malkator. The man I had been named after. The father of Benjamn Malkator. My cousin. Malkator and I were cousins. The truth was clear as day now.
"I'm...," I said. "I'm a descendant of the Vision."
I looked up, into the eyes of the Dragon, staring hungrily at me. I was so much more than that. I had the Vision's power, but there was another power, sleeping inside. A power that could help me win.
"I end my turn," Gordon said.
"I draw!" I shouted, putting all of my rage and emotion into that draw, giving creation to a new card. "I banish the level 10 Corrupted Star Dragon from my graveyard! And with it, I summon Chaostic War Dragon, Brute!"
"It can't be!" Gordon hissed.
"It is," i said.
This was it. Two Brute's facing off with each other.
"I activate the Brute's effect!" I said. "During my battle phase, he gains 500 attack for each of my banished monsters!"
With all of my cards that were banished, the Brute had more than enough power to end it. I attacked. I won. Gordon was consumed by burning smoke, and he died, screaming in the Brute's hellfire.
I came to in my room, with my ancestral grandfather, the Ace Of Chaos, standing over me.
"So, is it true?" I asked. "Am I..."
"You are our progeny," he said. "One of two who were destined to bring peace to the world. Your cousin fulfilled his destiny for putting a stop to the Game Master's master plan. And you... you are the one who is destined to kill the Jack Of All."
He disappeared. It all made sense now. The Jack Of All knew I was destined to destroy him, so he tried to have me killed. But he didn't make it easy for himself. He turned it into a game. Me versus him. That's what Gordon was for. A failed attempt to bring me down.
I'm ending this blog. I'm going to do what I can to fight Jack.
It's time I washed the blood from my hands.

I fought a dragon and stuff
I made it! Long story, let me explain.
I entered the Streams Of Destiny. Same horrible feeling. The place had changed. The skies were darker, and the water flowed a lot more fiercely. I don't know why, but I decided to walk toward the place where that strong power was emanating from.
I was walking for hours. Felt like weeks. Eventually I found it. The source of that intimidating power. A dragon. A motherfucking, 40 foot tall, gold and black scaled, silver eyed dragon. Yeah, that was fucking scary.
As soon as it saw me, it stood up and shot an orb of black and silver light at me. I deflected it with my sword, but the momentum was enough to send me sprawling on the ground. It opened its mouth again, preparing another of them, but someone grabbed me and pulled me out of the way before it hit. I turned and saw the Ace Of Chaos standing there.
"You?" I asked.
"Been a while," he said.
"What the hell is with the giant dragon?" I asked.
"It's a guardian here," he replied. "However, this world has become twisted, as has its protector."
"Great, so what the fuck do I do about it?" I asked.
"Tame it," he said.
"What?" I asked.
"You heard what I said," he replied, before disappearing.
The dragon turned its attention back to me. It fired another of its energy orbs. I dodged it and picked up my sword. It fired again, and I stepped to the side. I charged at it, but it took to the sky, and fired another energy orb that barely missed me.
"Oh, come on!" I said. "Not fair!"
It readied another of its energy balls. This time, I thought it would be smarter to run. I turned around and fled, but that energy orb hit in the back. I was knocked over. I felt like my back was on fire. Not only that, but the tentacles that usually hold my sword were destroyed, and my sword was knocked away from me. I heard that fucking dragon screech above me. I got to my back, and I had this really weird sensation. All my pain and fear were gone. My vision was sharper. A lot sharper. I could see every detail of the dragon as I turned to face it. I could see the flow of energy through its body as it readied another energy ball. I instinctively raised my right hand as it launched the orb, and I caught it. As if it was a soft ball. A red gauntlet had grown over my hand, made of some kind of insect exoskeleton stuff.
"Have a taste of your own medicine," I said, pushing the orb back at it.
It exploded upon impact, and the dragon fell to the ground, on its back. I reached my hand toward my sword, and it flew right to me. I gripped it with my new gauntlet. As I did so, a pair of red wings grew from my back. They lifted me into the air and carried me toward the dragon, setting me down on its chest. I placed my sword against its throat.
"I am your master now," I said.
I got off of its chest and it rolled over to face me, before bowing obediently.
"Good boy," I said. "Now, can you tell me how to get to the Board from here?"
The dragon roared, and turned to face a different direction.
"Thanks," I said, setting off again. As I did, my deck box started glowing. I opened it up to find a new card inside. Corrupted Star Dragon. Can't wait to use this against Gordon.
I had been walking for a while longer before I felt it. I was right on top of the Board. I opened up a gateway and stepped through. Wasn't quite expecting what I was. There was rubble everywhere. Entire building had been brought down.
"What the fuck happened here?" I asked to no one in particular.
"The Red Cap happened," said someone behind me. It was the Ace Of Diamonds.
"You mean Red Daniel?" I asked. "He did all of this?"
"Yeah, and he killed most of my Diamonds," she said. "So repairs have been a little slow. Also..."
She tossed me my old watch. The one I had given to Red Daniel so he could come here.
"He left that behind," she said. "Yours, right?"
"I'm sorry," I said. "I didn't think he could..."
"It's not your fault," she said. "We weren't very well prepared. Our master died, our Emissaries scattered, Abdalin and Alphonse abandoned us. Our defenses weren't good enough to stop him."
"But he was just one guy," I said.
"No, he wasn't," she said. "He brought reinforcements. Other people he had infected with the Redness. We couldn't stop them."
"I should never have trusted him," I said. "It's my fault he managed to come here."
"Don't beat yourself up," she said.
"How many people did he kill?" I asked.
"A lot," she said. "All we have left are 3 Diamonds, 5 Hearts, 2 Spades, and 7 Clubs."
"Oh God," I said. "He killed that many of you?"
"The Master isn't here to revive us any more," she said. "If we die, that's it for us."
"Damn it!" I said, slicing in half a piece of rubble in my angry.
"Try to to do this place any more damage," she said. "Anyway, you're looking for someone, right?"
"Yeah," I said. "Gordon's here, right?"
"Yes," she said. "He's at-
"The place he and I had our first duel," I said. "He made that pretty obvious."
"Well, i won't keep you any longer," she said. "Have fun."
Then, without warning, she kissed me on the cheek and disappeared. What the fuck?
Anyway, It's gonna take me a while to get there. The Board's a big place. I don't know what the outcome of our duel will be. If I win, I'll update. If I lose... well, I guess I won't be able to, will I? This could be the end for me. Wish me luck.

Leaving Now
Sorry for the lack of updates. Trip through the Streams was delayed. Partially due to preparation, partially due to Fear business, and partially due to being afraid to go back there. Yes, I'm scared. I'm allowed to be. Anyway, I got a call from Gordon saying to stop keeping him waiting, so I guess I need to suck it up and go. I've modified my deck with some new cards that mysteriously appeared on my deck earlier this week. Gee, I wonder which magical deal making entity could've put them there.
Anyway, I'm about to leave to go through the Streams Of Destiny. I don't know what's out there, but I have my sword with me, just in case. Wish me luck. I have a feeling I'll need it.

Cold Smiles
I got to the warehouse and found him
waiting for me. A man in a black mask was sitting patiently on a
crate in the back of the warehouse.
“You're Rictor, right?” I asked.
“That's me, yes,” he said.
“Well, you're acquainted with Gordon
Tayler, aren't you?” I asked, approaching him.
“Yes,” he said. “And you wish to
know how to get to the Board, where he's waiting for you.”
“That's right,” I said. “You
know, don't you?”
“Of course I do, but I can't tell you
for free,” he said, strapping a duel disk to his arm. “You have
to earn that information.”
“So I juat have to beat you in a duel, right?” I asked.
“So I juat have to beat you in a duel, right?” I asked.
“Not quite,” said a voice from
behind me. I heard the warehouse door slam shut, and I spun around to
see a man in a denim jacket with blue hair standing there.
“We have orders from Gordon to give
you a challenge,” Rictor said.
“So it's a two on one duel?” I
said. “Alright. I can handle both of you. What's your name,
anyway?”
“Name's Veis,” the blue haired man
said.
“Okay then,” I said. “Let's get
started.”
“Yes, let's,” Rictor said.
“Show time!” Veis said.
“I'll go first,” I said. “I
summon SlenderProxy Knave in attack mode!”
A level 2 man with 800 attack appeared
beside me.
“And when I summon a SlenderProxy
card, I can special summon SlenderProxy Thug!” I said.
My muscular thug appeared, with 1800
attack points.
“Now, I tune my level 2 Knave to my
level 4 Thug to synchro summon my level 6 SlenderProxy Dark One!” I
said.
A 2200 attack point fiend appeared on
my field.
“Next, since Knave was used in a
synchro summon with another SlenderProxy, I can draw one card,” I
said. “Then, I set 2 cards face down and end my turn.”
“I'll go next!” Veis said. “First,
since there's no monster cards in my graveyard, I can special summon
Cold Eatos to the field!”
A level 8 monster with pale blue skin
and tribal clothing, including a bird mask, appeared on his field. It
had 2500 attack points.
“I activate Dark One's effect!” I
said. “Now, I can have him gain 300 attack until the end phase!”
“Won't matter,” Veis said. “In a
battle royale duel, no one can attack on their first turn, so raising
your monster's attack a bit won't be a problem for me. Now, I use
Cold Eatos' effect, so I can add an equip card from my deck to my
hand, so I'll add Cold Wings to my hand. Next, since I control a
level 8 water monster, I can normal summon Cold Parsec to the field
without tributes!”
An alien looking dragon appeared on his
field. It was level 8 with 800 attack and defense.
“Now, I activate Cold Mirror!” he
said. “Since I control a water monster, I can have a look at your
face down cards!”
A mirror made of ice appeared on the
ground beneath my cards, reflecting them for Rictor and Veis to see.
My face down cards were Appropriate and Demotion.
“I see, so that's what you've got,”
he said. “Now, I build the overlay network with these two level 8
monsters to xyz summon Cryo Cross!”
A giant cross made of ice and wrapped
in beads appeared in the air and jammed into the ground. A large man
in samurai armor appeared and lifted the cross up, resting it on his
shoulder. He was rank 8 with 2800 attack and 2600 defense.
“I activate Cold Parsec's effect!”
Veis said. “When it's used for an xyz summon with another water
monster, I can draw one card!”
“I activate the continuous trap card
Appropriate!” I said. “As long as this card is in play, each time
my opponent draws cards through a card effect, I can draw two cards
from my own deck!”
He drew one card and I drew 2.
“You idiot!” Rictor shouted. “You
knew he had that card face down!”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever,” Veis said.
“It was worth it, because the card I just drew is Cold Gift! Using
this card, I can increase your life points by 2000 and then summon a
Cold monster from my hand!”
My life increased to 10000.
“Why are you increasing his life
points!?” Rictor demanded. “In a battle royale duel, you and I
are treated as opponent's, so you could have used that effect to
increase my life points!”
“I know,” Veis said. “We have him
outnumber, so I felt like it was fair. Besides, I like giving my
opponent's a bit of an edge starting out. It makes it more fun later
on.”
“You're an idiot!” Rictor said.
“And you're bossy,” Veis said.
“Using Cold Gift's effect, I special summon my Fear card, the Cold
Boy!”
The temperature in the room suddenly
dropped. A small child with blue skin and hair appeared on his field.
It was level 8 with 2400 attack points.
“Next, I equipped him with Cold
Wings,” Veis said. “Since I'm activating this card, Cold Eatos'
effect will deal me 800 damage, but now Cold Boy will gain 400 attack
points!”
A pair of ice wings appeared on the
Cold Boy's back, and his attack rose to 2800.
“Now, I end my turn,” he said.
“Which means it's my move!” Rictor
said. “I activate the continuous spell card Language Of Flowers.
Now, during each of my draw phases, instead of drawing as normal, I
can add a random plant type monster from my deck to my hand. Next, I
use the spell card Polymerization! Now, I fuse Chaos Flower White
Rose and Chaos Flower Black Rose to fusion summon Chaos Flower
Cypress!”
A large flower appeared on his side of
the field. It was level 6 with 2300 attack and 1200 defense.
“Cypress is a symbol of death and
sorrow,” Rictor said. “As long as Language OF Flowers in on my
field, I can destroy any monster it battles after damage calculation.
Next, I play the spell card Fear Summoning! By banishing the two dark
monsters in my graveyard, I can normal summon a Fear card without
tribute. I now summon The Smiling Man!”
A man with an oversized smile and
terrifying eyes appeared. It was level 7 with 2100 attack points. Ice
began forming around his monster, restricting its movements.
“That Fear card of yours is extremely
troublesome,” Rictor hissed at Veis.
“Oh well,” Veis said. “It's not
like you can attack this turn any way.”
“What's going on?” I asked. “Why
is your monster frozen?”
“Cold Boy's effect,” Veis said.
“Monster's can't attack the turn their normal summoned.”
“Unfortunately, it effects all of
us,” Rictor said.”
“Don't forget, Rictor,” Veis said.
“You now have the chance to use Cold Wing's effect. Since you have
no card's in your hand, you can pay 500 life points to draw two
cards.”
“An extremely risky strategy,
considering he has Appropriate,” Rictor said.
“Letting him draw a couple new cards
won't hurt,” Veis said.
“Fine,” Rictor said. “I pay 500
life points to draw 2 cards from my deck.”
“I use Appropriate's effect,” I
said. “Now, I can also draw 2 cards.”
“I set two cards face down and end my
turn,” Rictor said.
“My turn!” I said, drawing. “I
summon SlenderProxy Dahlia The Poisoner in attack mode!”
Dahlia appeared, but was immediately
frozen by the Cold Boy's effect.
“Now, by tributing these two
SlenderProxy cards, I can special summon Slender Knight to the
field!” I said.
A faceless man in black armor wielding
a longsword appeared. He was level 8 with 2500 attack points.
“Slender Knight gains 200 attack
points for each SlenderProxy in my graveyard, which is currently 4,
so he'll rise to 3300!” I said. “Also, since Dahlia was sent to
the graveyard, I can target one monster on the field, and destroy it
during the end phase. I'll choose The Cold Boy. Next, I activate the
spell card Slender Veil, which allows me to negate the Smiling Man's
effect this turn! Now, I'll have Slender Knight attack it!”
“I activate the continuous trap card
Invincible Petals!” Rictor said. “I select one attribute, and as
long as I control this card, plant type monsters can't be destroyed
by that attribute! I know all about your deck. The only non-dark
monsters you own are the Vision and the Crow, so by selecting dark, I
can protect my monsters from most of your deck!”
“You still take damage though!” I
said.
He lost 1200 life points. I was at
10000, Rictor was at 6300, and Veis was at 7200.
“I set 2 cards face down and end my
turn,” I said. “Now, Dahlia's effect activates, destroying the
Cold Boy!”
The Cold Boy was destroyed.
“My turn,” Veis said. “I activate
the spell card Cold Reborn! This card revives a Cold monster from my
graveyard, so I'll bring back The Cold Boy!” Veis said.
“Shit!” I exclaimed.
“Next, I'll use his effect, so by
discarding one card, I can seal one of your face down cards. I know
one of those is Demotion, so I'll seal the other one!”
My Miracle Locus was frozen.
“Now, I'll use Cryo Crosses effect,”
he said. “By detaching an overlay unit, I can reduce your monster's
attack power by half!”
Slender Knight had his attack power
reduced to 1650.
“Now, I'll have Cryo Cross attack!”
he said.
His warrior lifted the cross up and
swung it hard, crushing my Slender Knight and dealing me 1150 damage.
“Now, Cryo Cross's second effect
deals you 1000 damage,” Veis said. “Now, I attack directly with
the Cold Boy!”
“I activate the quickplay spell card
Fires Of Doomsday!” I said. “Now, I can summon two Doomsday
tokens to protect me!”
2 tokens appeared, one of which took
the hit from his Cold Boy. I didn't lose any life points.
“Next, I activate Cryo Shield!”
Veis said. “This card equips to the Cold Boy, and prevents him from
being destroyed by card effects up to twice per turn. Then I end my
turn.”
“My turn,” Rictor said. “I use
Language Of Flowers to add a random plant type monster to my hand.
The card I got was Chaos Flower Rosemary, which I'll summon in attack
mode.”
Another flower appeared. It was level 4
with 1200 attack and 0 defense.
“Rosemary is a symbol of
remembrance,” he said. “If I summon it while I control Language
of Flowers, I can return a spell card from my graveyard to my hand,
so I'll choose Polymerization. Also, Rosemary is unaffected by monster effects the turn it's summoned, so I'll have it attack your
token.”
my token was destroyed.
“Now, I'll attack directly with Chaos
Flower Cypress,” e said. I took 2300 damage.
“I'll attack you again with the
Smiling Man,” he said. “And any damage he deals gets doubled!”
I took 4200 damage from that attack,
reducing me to 1350.
“I end my turn,” Rictor said.
“I draw!” I said. “I activate the
spell card Slender Walk, so by banishing SlenderProxy Thug and
SlenderProxy Dark One, I can special summon Slender Man from my
deck!”
slender Man appeared before me.
“So you finally summoned him, huh?”
Veis said.
“That's right!” I said. “And now
I activate the trap card Miracle Locus, so he'll gain 1000 attack,
and can attack twice this turn. However, he can't deal any damage,
and my Rictor has to draw one card.”
Rictor drew a card.
“Now, Appropriate's effect kicks in,
so I draw 2 cards!” I said. I got just what I needed.
“I summon Slender Dragon in attack
mode!” I said. “This card can be summoned without tributes if I
control Slender Man!”
My level 10 dragon appeared, but was
frozen instantly.
“I activate my face down card
Demotion!” I said. “This card becomes equipped to Slender Dragon,
reducing its level by 2. Now, I overlay my two level 8 monsters to
xyz summon Chaos Slender Man!”
My horrible eldritch fiend appeared,
looming over all of us. It had 3300 attack, making it the strongest
monster in play.
“I use Chaos slender Man's effect!”
I said. “By using one overlay unit, I can convert Cryo Cross into a
Hallowed and gain control of it, but its effect will be negated.
Then, I play the spell card Hallowed Fury, so Cryo Cross will gain
1000 attack and can't be destroyed by card effects! Now, attack Chaos
Flower Cypress! And since Cryo Cross is a water attribute, your
Invincible Petals won't work!”
Cypress was destroyed, and Rictor took
1500 damage, bringing him down to 4800.
“Now, I'll have Chaos Slender Man
attack the Cold Boy!” I said. Veis took 900 damage, bringing him
down to 6300.
“If a monster equipped with Cryo
Shield is destroyed in battle, I can return it to my hand instead of
sending it to the graveyard,” Veis said.
“I set two cards and end my turn,”
I said.
“My turn,” Veis said. “I activate
the effect of Cold Wanderer from my graveyard, so by removing it from
play, I can normal summon a cold monster without tributes. Come on
out, Cold Boy!”
The cold Boy reappeared on his field
again.
“Then, I pay 1000 life points to
equip him with Cold Hammer, increasing his attack points by 1000.
Now, attack his Chaos Slender Man!”
“I activate the trap card Collision
Of Fear!” I said. “When two Fears battle, this card ends the
battle phase and cuts all of our life points in half!”
My life points were reduced to 675,
Rictor's were reduced to 2400, and Veis's became 2650.
“I end my turn,” Veis said.
“My turn,” Rictor said. “I use
Language Of Flowers to add a random plant type monster to my hand. I
got Chas Flower Lobelia. Next, I play Polymerization to fuse Rosemary
from my field with Lobelia and Balsamine from my hand to fsion summon
Chaos Flower Love Lies Bleeding!”
A new flower appeared. It was level 8
with 2700 attack points.
“Love Lies Bleeding is a symbol of
Hopelessness,” he said. “So if I control Language Of Flowers, any
monster it battles has its effects negated and loses 600 attack until
the end phase. I also use the trap card Malicious thorns, so when I
fusion summon a plant type monster, I can reduce one of your monsters
attack points by 1000 until the end phase. I choose Chaos Slender
Man. Now, I'll have Love Lies Bleeding attack Chaos Slender Man!”
This attack would finish me if I didn't
do something.
“I activate the trap card Hallowed
Interception!” I said. “Now, the attack target is changed to my
Hallowed and I draw one card from my deck!”
My Hallowed blocked the attack. His
monster's effect reduced its attack by 600, so I took 500 damage from
that attack. I drew one card.
“I end my turn,” he said.
“My turn!” I said. “I use Chaos
Slender Man's effect, so by detaching an overlay unit, I can convert
Chaos flower Love Lies Bleeding into a Hallowed and gain control of
it!”
I gained control of Rictor's Chaos
Flower.
“Next, I use the next effect of Chaos
Slender Man. Since Slender Man was used to xyz summon him, I can
normal summon Slender and SlenderProxy cards without tributes, so I
summon SlenderProxy Ozalia The Illusionist! Then, using the spell
card Tune Down, My Hallowed loses two levels, and any monster xyz
summoned with it gains 600 attack points! I now overlay SlenderProxy
Hallowed and SlenderProxy Ozalia The Illusionist to xyz summon
Unleashed O'Zalia!”
Unleashed O'Zalia was summoned, and had
his attack power increased to 3000.
“Now, by using both of his overlay
units, I can destroy the Smiling Man and Cold Boy, leaving you both
wide open!” I said. “Attack you both directly with Chaos Slender
Man and Unleashed O'Zalia!”
Both of their life points dropped to 0.
I won the duel.
“I win,” I said. “Now, you have
to tell me how to get to the Board.”
“Fair enough,” Rictor said. The est
way to get there is the same way Malkator did.”
Of course. Malkator got there using the
Streams of Destiny. Unfortunately, there was still that presence
there. I guess I would have ton take my chances.
“Thanks,” I said. I turned and
left. I need to prepare for this. There's no telling what's in the
Streams Of Destiny.

Rictor
I arrived at the cafe a bit early. I
figured whoever this was would recognize me and approach me. So, I
waited, and sure enough, this girl sat across from me a few minutes
later.
“Hello, Kallaway!” she said.
“And you are?” I asked.
“Cecilia Zeak,”she said.” think
you and I might be able to help each other.”
“And what information do you have
that could help me?” I asked.
“You're looking for Gordon Tayler,
aren't you?” she asked.
“I know where he is, I just don't
know how to get there,” I said.
“I bet his lackeys do,”she said.
“And I just so happen to know where one of them is!”
“Where!?” I demanded. This was
exactly the lead I needed.
“Not so fast!” she said. “Before
I tell you where he is, you tell me where she is.”
She handed me a photo of a girl I've
never seen before.
“And how would I know where she is?”
I asked.
“You're a Scion, aren't you?” she
asked.
“I suppose so,” I said.
“Then you should have like, super
eyes or something,”she said. “This girl is somewhere in this
city, so those eyes of yours should be able to locate her.”
“Fine,” I sighed. “I'll give it a
shot, but don't expect any results.”
I don't use the Vision's eyes very
much. I honestly don't like to. I'm not used to being able to see ten
times as far as other people, or being able to see through walls. But
I used them anyway, and scanned the city. I tried focusing on every
face I could, looking for one that matched the picture. I found some
close matches, but no one identical. Until I noticed some one running
through an alley. She was acting pretty panicked, glancing over her
shoulders. She eventually calmed down, seeming to realize that
whatever was chasing her was gone now. I got a look at her face, and
sure enough, it was exactly who I was looking for.
“Found her,” I said. “Not far
off, either. But before I tell you where she is, where is Gordon's
little friend.”
“His name is Rictor,” she said.
“Former servant of the Glitch, wheres a black mask with a scar
shaped mark over the left eye. He and one of Gordon's other mooks are
based in a warehouse a few miles away. Here's the address.”
She gave me a card with an address on
it. I gave her the location of the other girl in exchange and left.
Okay, Rictor. Looks like you're the one
who's gonna help me get to the Board.

Contact
Daniel and I have gone our separate
ways. He had to go help his friends. Me? I have personal business to
settle with Gordon. I intend to finish him off. For good, this time.
I know where he is. The only problem is, how the fuck do I get there?
If he knows a way to get there, than the people who work for him may
know as well. However, finding them, or any one else who knows the
way, is easier said than done. However, I did find someone willing to
help. Or they found me. I found a note slipped under my door when I
got home today.
I know what you're looking for, and
I can point you in the right direction. However, I'll need you to
help me with those magic eyes of yours. Meet me at (Not posting the
name here) cafe tomorrow at 7 P.M. Be there.
Not sure who this
person is, but if they have intel, I guess I can hear them out.

Went weirder than expected
We met Vocallass in Fairfield. She
challenged us to a duel, and we accepted (somewhat reluctantly). She
cheated. She totally cheated. Her deck was digital, so she could
reprogram it or whatever in order to get exactly the cards she
needed. Even so, we managed to win. And, what's more, I've regained
the Vision's card. I wonder if I could get the Brute's card back
too...
Anyway, after we won, Gordon showed up.
He turned Vocallass into something called a Shoggoth so that she'd
serve him. He then proceeded to destroy the entire place. He tossed
me a card and said I'd know where to find him. The card is a
quickplay spell called “Fated Rematch”. Not quite sure what it
means yet. Hopefully, I'll figure it out soon.
And to the man who commented on my previous post; I don't pay much attention to my comments, so if you're really interested in contacting me, I recommend my email. enhancedproxy@gmail.com. However, from what I've read of your blog, you seem to be in a universe separate from mine, so I doubt we'd be of much help to each other.
